RDP - Rockets Development Program

The Rockets Development Program (RDP) is a key component of the Rockets Hockey Club and will be staffed by Rockets Sports Group employees, including the Rockets' head coaches.

The RDP program is based on age-appropriate competition and training for boys and girls ages 8 and younger, beginning with their first exposure to the game and carrying them through Squirt hockey and beyond. The RDP places a heightened emphasis on skill development and long-term athlete development principles, providing a great start for the best possible youth hockey experience.

Our young Rockets will have FUN and are in constant motion in small spaces. The RDP utilizes station-based instruction, small-area games, and cross-ice competition to deliver more repetitions, more puck touches, and more skill development per hour of ice time. RDP provides children with the most efficient, most engaging development path, keeping them both in the game and on a path toward their full potential.

The RDP staff will see that your child improves their skating, puck handling, and shooting skills, along with learning the basic fundamentals of the game of hockey. And most importantly, have FUN!

Program Overview:

  • RDP season is September through February
  • Two, one-hour practices per week
  • Twenty (20) weekends with cross-ice games
  • Total ice time exceeds 75 hours
  • Tuition is $1,750
  • Tuition includes jersey and socks

The RTDP follows USA Hockey's American Development Model.

STEP 1 - Rockets Development Program “RDP”

This is our entry-level hockey program. It focuses on station-based skill development and having fun. Expect to have 20-30 kids on the ice at once, rotating through 4-5 stations. Each station will focus on a separate skill, each with a coach. On weekends, we will introduce the kids to gameplay through intrasquad games and friendly games with nearby programs. Expect minimal travel. For more information, please visit the link below.

STEP 2 - Half-ice Mite

This is the first stop in team-based learning and training. Each team will have a dedicated coach. The teams participate in the AHF League and will travel.

STEP 3 - full-ice Mite

This is our most advanced Mite program. It will have a larger roster and will play games on NHL rinks. If you are interested in this program, please visit RSG Selects at the link below for more information.
